Inside Westhaven, Franklin's premier master-planned community
A closer look at the story behind the community, the people who live here, the housing market today, the amenities that shape everyday life, and the schools and destinations all around it.
A traditional neighborhood, thoughtfully planned
Westhaven is Southern Land Company's flagship master-planned community: roughly 1,500 acres of traditional neighborhood development on Franklin's west side, about three miles from Historic Downtown Franklin. Sales opened in 2003, the first homeowners moved in by 2005, and the community marked 20 years of homeowners in 2025. Build-out continues today, with the current master plan projected to reach roughly 3,500 residences, including single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums, and an active-adult enclave.
The character is unmistakably New Urbanist: narrow tree-lined streets, front porches, traditional Southern architecture, a walkable Village Center with restaurants and shops, neighborhood schools, parks within a short stroll, and an 18-hole championship golf course. Today the community is home to roughly 2,400 households and counting.
