Leiper's Fork
A hidden gem of local restaurants, galleries, and farmland along the Natchez Trace.
Life in Leiper's Fork, Tennessee.
Well-known for its locally-owned restaurants, art galleries, and boutiques, Leipers Fork is a hidden gem in Williamson County. Though popular with Middle Tennesseans, it's location off the beaten path has made it home primarily to long-standing locals to the area. Many musicians and celebrities call the area home thanks to its seclusion and proximity to Franklin and Nashville, but they blend right in with the laid-back atmosphere that this quaint community provides.
Located far from it all but still convenient to all the perks of larger towns,
Leiper's Fork has primarily been farmland since its establishment. Both large estates and more modest cabins and ranches are scattered around the countryside, but a few small subdivisions and communities are beginning to find their way to the area. The Natchez Trace runs through this small, rural community, meaning much of the area will remain untouched from development thanks to preservation by the state park system.

Inside Leiper's Fork, the village that chose to stay small
A closer look at the story behind the crossroads village, the people who call it home, the market today, everyday life at the village, and the schools and destinations all around it.
A historic crossroads that decided not to grow
Leiper's Fork is a historic, unincorporated village in Williamson County, Tennessee, roughly nine to ten miles southwest of Downtown Franklin. Settlers arrived in the late 1700s, many of them Revolutionary War veterans from North Carolina and Virginia, and the Leiper family post office opened in 1818. The village sits on the National Register of Historic Places and is often called "the village that decided not to grow," a choice that preserved its one-road character while the suburbs spread around it.
The surroundings are pure Middle Tennessee horse country: rolling hills, plank fences, working farms, and estates tucked along the back roads, with a village center of Victorian cottage storefronts holding galleries, antique shops, and eateries. It is also, quietly, one of the most music-soaked places in the region. Songwriters and musicians are fixtures at the village's open mics and porch concerts, and the area has long drawn country stars, film and television names, and out-of-state buyers who value the privacy and the pace.
The draw at the crossroads is genuinely small-town: Puckett's Grocery & Restaurant, today's Fox & Locke, for Southern plates and nightly music; Leiper's Fork Distillery for small-batch spirits; working art galleries; and the annual "Almost World Famous" Christmas Parade on the second Saturday of December. It has been called "Mayberry meets Marfa," with all the charm that implies.
